About the event

Single Session | Saturday, June 6, 1:00pm-3:00pm

Explore the expressive possibilities of oil paint sticks with textile artist and educator Monica Johnstone, PhD. Known for her richly layered art quilts, Monica uses oil paint sticks to build texture, shadow, and luminosity, techniques showcased in her piece The Green Hour, part of Lowell Arts' A Drop of Emerald Poison exhibition.

In this workshop, students will experiment with several methods for applying oil paint sticks using masking, stenciling, and rubbing on fabric. Participants will leave with multiple 8.5" fabric samples ready to incorporate into future projects. All supplies included. All skill levels welcome.

Note: Wearing an apron or old shirt is recommended.
